A sumptuous home located in historic Villa Gaeta was the setting for the final scene of ’s Casino Royale. The property is steeped in style and history with quality and attention to detail both inside and out. The home is located over three levels and features four bedrooms and bathrooms with ample space and privacy for friends and families. The degree panoramic lake views really are a sight to behold from both inside the home or outside on the terraces and balcony where you can dine alfresco and take in the vista. The property benefits from private off road parking and use of a secluded private beach to access the lake available exclusively to guests of this home and the residence at Villa Gaeta. Private boat mooring is available here to dock your own boat.

The home exudes quality and luxury at every turn. From the mosaic floors, frescoes, pillars and painted ceilings in the entrance of the original grand villa to the degree lake views from your private terrace and balcony, the apartment offers a real sense of style with attention to detail and quality fixtures and fittings at every turn. The apartment is perched directly overlooking the lake and offers such luxuries boat mooring and access to the beach available exclusively for owners here at this residence only. Little wonder the James Bond franchise chose the villa, stairs and exterior to shoot the finale for Daniel Craig’s first adventure as in Casino Royale.

The home is located over three levels. The terrace with alfresco dining and lounging offers ample space and privacy to soak up the atmosphere and splendid vista. Inside the home you will find a state-of-the-art kitchen with all mod cons and all the facilities you would associate from a home of this quality including interior dining facilities and a spacious, comfy sofa to relax upon. Two of the bedrooms are located on this floor as well as an additional service W.C. A laundry room with washer and dryer is conveniently housed on this floor.

The spacious master double bedroom features an en-suite bathroom with bath and wc a plus sofa bed.
An electronic ceiling fan is included in this bedroom positioned with greater shade. A second air conditioned double room with a private lake view terrace is also located on the entry level floor with shower and wc.

Stairs to the first floor give access to an additional living room, ideal for families or friends sharing the home who require additional privacy. This first floor includes a large sofa, dining facilities and kitchen is located with access to the huge lake view balcony where you can also dine and take in the degree lake view. The first floor features an air conditioned double bedroom plus bathroom with shower and wc is located directly next to this bedroom. This bedroom boasts a splendid lake view and features air conditioning.

The third floor is accessed by an internal staircase and takes you to the attic atrium level featuring an open plan layout of two single beds plus bathroom with shower and wc. This level benefits from air conditioning located from the open plan first floor living room immediately below to keep temperatures cool in summer on both this floor as well as the secondary open plan living area downstairs.

Outside you have access to boat mooring, a private garage, use of the communal gardens and grounds as well as the beach for sunbathing and direct access to the lake.

Or, alternatively, sit back and relax, enjoy a glass of wine and good book if you manage to avert your gaze from the majestic lake views that surround the home.

The downstairs rooms have ceiling fans where it is cooler, the attic and upper floor benefits from air conditioning conveniently located beneath the top floor (open plan) so that temperatures in both room are kept cooler.

&#;If you’re reading this review, you are probably contemplating staying at this magnificent villa. Let me just sum it up quickly &#; don’t think and go ahead and book it!! You need no further review and you will have no regrets. Just do it! Our family stayed at Villa Gaeta the first week of April in , and we loved every minute of it. This is a magnificent historic place which is exquisitely and modernly remodeled, and elegantly furnished on the inside. Every bit of detail is attended to. You are renting the best apartment in this complex, with the best views, patios, and interior. The location of the villa and the views are fantastic. No wonder it was chosen for the final scene in Casino Royale, and still is a well recognized landmark villa all over the lake. However, what goes beyond any other rental property is the service. From the moment that we contacted Barrie and even after we had left, he was extremely helpful. Barrie is one of those individuals that you immediately like and trust, and he goes way beyond to make sure all is taken care of and you and your loved ones feel most welcome! From giving us driving directions, to meeting us at the villa late at night in the rain, advice for local and also non-local cuisines, casual to fine dining, sightseeing, etc. etc. Barrie just goes well beyond his duty. Even when we had a minor issue with the AC control system, Barrie was there almost immediately and fixed the problem. We have stayed in contact even after our departure while visiting other areas of Italy as he has provided very helpful recommendations. Over the years we have stayed at a few other places on Lake Como , but this was by far the best. We will definitely stay at Villa Gaeta again when we come back. &#;Wow &#; Every James Bond fan who can afford it should spend a week here. What a villa. What a view! It was built more than years ago and divided into 18 separate units. We stayed in early June and had the place to ourselves. You have access to the private beach, the private dock, and the entire grounds as well as two large porches facing the water. The unit is actually TWO apartments on top of each other connected by a thin set of stairs (you have another entrance to the upper unit if you want). The lower section has two huge master bedrooms with attached baths and an open plan living room/dining room/kitchen. The upstairs section has a large living/kitchen/dining area with double height ceiling, a bedroom with bath next door and a big loft with its own bathroom. We ate out on the upper porch several times and watched the tourist boats come and go.

&#;Villa Gaeta is as advertised—and then some.

The views are stupendous. The point on which the villa is located juts onto the widest part of the lake, providing the best possible perspective—including views of Varenna glowing at sunset and nighttime views of the lights of Bellano, Varenna, Bellagio, and Menaggio.

The accommodation is very roomy, with two distinct but connected apartments over three levels. Very nice design—quality, comfortable, stylish furnishings…probably foot ceilings in several rooms. Kitchens and bathrooms thoughtfully stocked. Spotlessly clean throughout.

The villa offers a private location, removed from Menaggio to the south and San Siro to the north, though we found both walkable—40 and 20 min, respectively, almost entirely along walking/biking paths. The location is also special because the closing scene of Casino Royale was shot at the villa, so boats frequently approach for a wave and a photo of the villa (without coming close enough to be a nuisance).

Gaeta’s grounds are beautiful, with a variety of flowers and plantings everywhere—all professionally landscaped.

All in all, it’s hard for a visit here not to be among the memories of a lifetime. What guaranteed this in our case was the great value added by the hospitality and professionalism of our hosts, Barrie and Julie, who were unfailingly patient, responsive, and knowledgeable with our many questions and requests. On a day when our lunch and dinner plans were in doubt, Barrie even took the initiative to inquire with his favorite places in Menaggio to accommodate us. Whenever we needed flexibility, Barrie and Julie obliged without hassle. They were great communicators throughout, always quick to reply to texts, especially during the detailed process of arranging menus with a private chef. We had a truly wonderful stay, in significant part because of our hosts&#;

&#;The Absolute best place to stay in Italy! The house sits perfectly on an outcropping with an outstanding view of Lake Como and surrounding cities (Menaggio, Bellagio, and Varrena).
