Peter Sellers and Orson Welles hated each other so much that the filming of the scene where both of them face each other across a gaming table actually took place on different days with a double standing in for the other actor.

Although the conflict between Peter Sellers and Orson Welles has become legendary, it was reportedly Sellers who suggested Welles for the role of Le Chiffre.

Woody Allen's scenes were shot in London. Producers delayed his final day of shooting so many times that, out of frustration, Allen left the set, went directly to Heathrow Airport, and flew back to New York City without changing out of his costume. There he appeared as the Mystery Guest on the television show "What's My Line", and completely fooled the panel because nobody had any idea he was in New York.

According to interviews with director Val Guest, Peter Sellers became such a problem during the filming that the decision was made to fire him before he had finished all of his scenes. As a result, the end of the marching band torture scene was noticeably altered and Sellers' subsequent scenes were written out.

Back in 1962, Ian Fleming had already decided on David Niven for the role of James Bond in Dr. No (1962). He was cross when Sean Connery was chosen, but was apparently so impressed with the way Connery portrayed Bond that he gave the character Scottish ancestry. Of course, David Niven was also of Scottish descent.

Cameo

Stirling Moss: a man who is instructed to "follow that car" and runs after it on foot. Moss is one of the greatest racing drivers of all time.

Peter O'Toole: playing an uncredited "Scottish Piper" at about 1:45. He has two lines with Sellers. His fee was allegedly a case of champagne (at least in part).

George Raft: as himself, doing his famous coin-tossing routine. During the final melee in the casino, he approaches a man while holding a gun and saying "I've been framed. This gun shoots backwards, I just killed myself." The man he approaches is made up to look like David McCallum, star of the popular US TV Series _The Man from U.N.C.L.E._. An episode of that series featured a backwards-shooting handgun.
