- "There is this line that you hear in Bond films quite a bit which is, 'Well, Mr. Bond, you and I are a lot alike.' There's a semblance of that you can hear in the trailer, when Safin says to Bond, 'I could be speaking to my own reflection.' I just find that type of mentality so interesting, that both these guys think that they're trying to save the world, they just go about it in two extraordinarily different ways."
- ― Rami Malek
Rami Said Malek (1981 - ), is an American actor and producer. He played the villain Lyutsifer Safin in No Time to Die.
Bond Involvement[]
Malek's performance as the iconic Queen frontman Freddie Mercuary in Bohemian Rhapsody put him in on the radar of Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson. However, it is claimed by casting director, Debbie McWilliams that they had a hard time getting hold of Malek to discuss the role of Lyutsifer Safin in No Time to Die,[1] as his agents would not respond. Evenutally, McWilliams tracked down Malek at a screening of the movie Bohemian Rhapsody and directly asked if he was aware that the Bond producers were interested in him, which Malek had been unaware of. By the following day, Malek was in the offices of Broccoli and Wilson and secured the role.
Trivia[]
- In the movie No Time to Die Rami wears a wig to portray his character because he had come straight from shooting the TV series Mr. Robot.[2]
